Deuteronomy 4:2 - Keep the Commandments of the Lord

" that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you" (Deuteronomy 4:2). Said commandments are given a formal title in verse 13: The Ten Commandments. Then, in chapter 5, these commandments are written out. The Ten Commandments sum up God's perfect, soul-converting law (Psalm 19:7). Through God's granting of repentance (2 Timothy 2:25), we accept the gift of His grace and are justified through faith in Christ. The Apostle Paul informed us that, after conversion, "...the law was our school-master to bring us to Christ, so that we might be justified by faith" (Galatians 3:24). Christ even said it plainly to His followers: "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). When was the last time you looked at yourself through the mirror of God's holy and perfect law? Let it show you the true sinner of yourself (Romans 3:23) and drive you to the door (John 10:9) of the narrow gate (Matthew 7:14), which is Jesus Christ, through whom the gift of eternal life is given (Romans 6:23).
