New Feature: Chapter Outlines

posted May 20, 2015, 9:57 AM by William Masopust   [ updated May 20, 2015, 10:02 AM ]

I have added a new feature to the RCV. Now, each of the 1,189 chapters in the RCV has a chapter outline or summary statement. The outline is located at the beginning of the chapter text. For example, navigate to Ephesians, Chapter 1 and look above verse 1. That is how the chapter outline text will appear across the different formats of the RCV.

These outlines are primarily taken from The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, and secondarily from John Wesley's Notes on the Bible. Supporting sources include Matthew Henry's Commentary, John Gill's Exposition, and John Calvin's Commentary. I have updated the text to match the styling and readability of the RCV.

This update has been applied to the RCV website, the PDF version, and the ePub and MOBI versions. Unfortunately, due to a page number restriction from the publisher I use, the chapter outlines add too much text to be applied to the print versions.

The chapter outlines also introduced many terms that I have added to the Glossary.

I hope these outlines will assist you in reading the text of the Scriptures.
